POLITICS AND FUN
Politicising inflation will create more havocFriday, 15th April, 2011
PREVENTION is better than cure. Why wait for a disease to spread through the entire country then panic to find a cure when this could have been stopped in the first place? Demanding for the Government to act upon escalating commodity prices is okay, but politicising the whole issue only creates more havoc. Surprisingly, we have many civil society organisations, but we have not seen or heard them responding to these crucial issues that affect our livelihood. They simply rise up to criticise when political issues pop up. Inflation has sky-rocketed from 9%-12% within three years. This is extremely harmful to our economy in which the average Ugandan earning a meagre income suffers most. We acknowledge that Uganda is facing a number of challenges which ought to be addressed. However, will the opposition keep staging demonstrations for every unpleasant situation? Ugandans should bear in mind that every issue that arises is not necessarily as a result of poor governance, but other factors such as the current global economic crisis and drought in the country. This is a precarious situation for the Police but Police officers must take every measure to protect the citizens.
